Kestronics Carbon Reduction Plan
Supplier name: Kestronics Ltd
Publication date: February 2026
1. Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Kestronics Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions for its UK operations by 2050, in line with UK Government policy and the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap.
2. Baseline emissions footprint
Baseline emissions provide the reference point against which future reductions are measured.
- Baseline year: 2025
- Organisational boundary (UK operations):
- Staff working in a shared office.
- Use of a third‑party logistics warehouse for storage and order fulfilment.
- Business travel and employee commuting.
- Outbound and inbound transportation provided by third‑party carriers.
- Methodology: Kestronics is adopting the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard and UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors, and 2025 is our first full reporting year.
Because 2025 is our first formal carbon footprint, some data is still being gathered, as explained below.
Baseline year emissions – 2025 (UK operations)
| Emissions source | Description | 2025 baseline emissions (tCO2e) |
|---|---|---|
| Scope 1 | Direct fuel combustion from sources owned or controlled by Kestronics. Kestronics operates no commercial vehicles and has no fuel‑burning plant under its control, so Scope 1 emissions are assessed as zero. | 0 |
| Scope 2 | Purchased electricity associated with Kestronics’ use of a shared office in the UK. Exact kWh data and Kestronics’ apportioned share are being collected with the building landlord and will be quantified and published by 31 December 2026. | Data being collected (planned publication by 31 Dec 2026) |
| Scope 3 – Business travel | Emissions from business travel (e.g. rail, air, private car, taxi) not owned or controlled by Kestronics. Activity data is being gathered from travel and expense records and will be quantified and published by 31 December 2026. | Data being collected (planned publication by 31 Dec 2026) |
| Scope 3 – Employee commuting (incl. homeworking) | Emissions from employees travelling to and from the shared office and from home‑working energy use. Data is being collected via internal staff surveys and will be quantified and published by 31 December 2026. | Data being collected (planned publication by 31 Dec 2026) |
| Scope 3 – Waste generated in operations | Emissions from waste produced in the office and attributable to Kestronics’ activity at the third‑party warehouse. Data is being gathered with facilities and warehouse providers and will be quantified and published by 31 December 2026. | Data being collected (planned publication by 31 Dec 2026) |
| Scope 3 – Upstream transportation and distribution | Inbound transport and handling of products by third‑party logistics providers. Shipment and activity data are being collected and will be quantified and published by 31 December 2026. | Data being collected (planned publication by 31 Dec 2026) |
| Scope 3 – Downstream transportation and distribution | Outbound deliveries to customers using parcel and freight carriers. Shipment and activity data are being collected and will be quantified and published by 31 December 2026. | Data being collected (planned publication by 31 Dec 2026) |
| Total 2025 baseline emissions | To be confirmed once data collection is complete |
In line with NHS Supply Chain guidance, where emissions data is not yet available a written explanation and plan for obtaining it within 12 months is provided.
3. Current emissions reporting
- Reporting year: 2025 (same as baseline; this is our first year of formal reporting).
- Kestronics will publish quantified emissions for all categories listed above once data collection and calculation are completed, and will then provide year‑on‑year comparisons in subsequent reports.
4. Emissions reduction targets
To support our Net Zero commitment, Kestronics has set the following initial targets for its UK operations:
- Establish a complete quantified carbon footprint for 2025 and 2026 across Scope 1, Scope 2 and the required Scope 3 categories by 31 December 2026.
- Reduce Scope 2 emissions (from electricity use in office space) by at least 40% per full‑time equivalent employee by 2030 compared with the 2025 baseline, through energy efficiency and increased use of low‑carbon electricity.
- Reduce logistics‑related Scope 3 emissions (upstream and downstream transportation and distribution) per outbound order by at least 25% by 2030 compared with 2025, working with third‑party logistics providers and carriers.
Once the full quantified baseline is finalised, Kestronics will publish specific tCO2e reduction figures aligned to these percentage targets.
5. Carbon reduction initiatives
Because Kestronics is a reseller/distributor with no commercial vehicles, our primary influence is through office operations, digital working practices and our relationships with logistics partners and manufacturers.
5.1 Completed and ongoing measures
- Low‑carbon office operations
- Use of a shared office with modern building services, which reduces the footprint per employee compared with single‑tenant space.
- Promotion of energy‑saving behaviours (shutting down IT equipment, minimising printing, efficient use of heating and cooling).
- Travel and flexible working
- Hybrid working arrangements that reduce commuting frequency.
- Preference for virtual meetings with customers, suppliers and partners, and use of rail or other lower‑carbon modes where in‑person meetings are essential.
- Third‑party logistics and transport
- Use of professional 3PL and carrier partners that consolidate shipments and optimise routes, thereby reducing transport emissions per parcel compared with ad‑hoc deliveries.
- Engagement with key logistics partners to understand their decarbonisation roadmaps and to increase use of lower‑emission delivery options where available.
- Waste and packaging
- Re‑use of inbound packaging wherever feasible and selection of recyclable packaging for outbound shipments.
- Encouraging suppliers to minimise packaging and provide recyclable or recycled-content materials.
- Supplier engagement
- Preference for manufacturers with clear environmental and Net Zero commitments, and availability of energy‑efficient equipment and robust end‑of‑life management (repair, refurbishment, take‑back and recycling schemes).
5.2 Planned future measures
Over the next five years Kestronics intends to:
- Obtain building‑level energy data from landlords and formally allocate and report our share of electricity and gas use for the shared office space.
- Formalise a sustainable travel policy to limit air travel, encourage public transport, ride‑sharing and active travel, and support low‑carbon commuting options.
- Work with our 3PL and carrier partners to increase the use of consolidated deliveries, low‑emission vehicles and alternative fuel options where operationally feasible.
- Introduce a simple internal carbon awareness programme for staff, highlighting practical everyday actions at work and at home.
- Review opportunities to offset any residual emissions in line with best practice, once we have a robust reduction trajectory.
6. Environmental management and reporting approach
Kestronics is aligning its reporting with:
- The GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.
- UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors for company reporting.
- The Carbon Reduction Plan reporting standard under Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 06/21 / PPN 006.
This Carbon Reduction Plan will be reviewed, updated and republished at least once every 12 months, including updated emissions data and progress against the targets set out above.
7. Declaration and sign‑off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 (PPN 006) and the associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
- Emissions will be reported in line with the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard using appropriate UK Government emission conversion factors.
- Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions will be reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions will be reported in line with the Carbon Reduction Plan standard.
- This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and approved by the Kestronics Board of Directors (or equivalent management body).
