Field
Service in real time
Equip your
vans with a Orion GPS + GSM/GPRS and a DAT500
palm computer.
The GPS detects the position of the van and
sends it to the service center via SMS (Short
Message System) of the GSM/GPRS cellular
network.
Each van position is continuously displayed on
an electronic map at the service center. After
taking an incoming call, the operator selects
the most suitable van available for that
customer considering its current location, the
available time window and spare part inventory
on the van.
The new task data are immediately sent to the
DAT500 on the van through SMS or cellular modem
connection. The operator can now go to the
customer location and do the job.
The customer's plant/equipment and the spare
parts are automatically tracked by scanning
their bar codes.
Service activity data are reported into the
DAT500.
Invoicing and payment by credit card can be done
immediately thanks to the magnetic card reader
and the built-in printer.
The finished task report is then sent by the
DAT500 to the service center through the GSM/GPRS
cellular network.
We offer proven one-stop-shopping solutions for
your business.

RETAIL Retailers boost
their profits by automating the flow of goods and
data in every step of the supply chain, from
manufacturing to shipping, to warehouse management
and shop floor. Inventory control and price
management can be carried out automatically and
without errors, thus improving customer service. In
route accounting and door-to-door sales Hand Held
Computers (HHC) are used as a mobile inventory and
point-of-sale system.
Delivery personnel use HHCs to scan product bar
codes, accept credit card payments, and print
customer receipts.
Purchased products are immediately delivered from
the stock inside a van. HHCs contain a full sales and inventory management
application program, which is linked to a corporate
database.
Similar procedures can be carried out on commercial
airlines, for in-flight duty free sales.
In general merchandise retail, store workers can
enter new orders, check inventory and prices
automatically when they load the shelves, thus
eliminating the time and cost of paper work. Store
managers can get real time data on sales, labour
scheduling and shelf space planning. Warehouse
workers use hand held computers (HHC) for inventory
procedures. Warehouse management systems give
instructions to anticipate replenishment and keep
the warehouse running at maximum productivity. In the distribution chain goods are kept in
continuous motion. Truck drivers' schedules and routes are
automatically loaded into HHCs, which can also
verify that the right goods are loaded on the right
truck, and collect and send real-time data on driver
performance.
Wireless networks transmit data between the
warehouse management system and workers equipped
with HHCs.
Trucks can also be equipped with GPS (geographical
positioning systems)+GSM/GPRS systems to achieve
E-sales delivered on the fly.

LOGISTICS Track goods on line anytime, anywhere to speed up
your business. Speed and flexibility are crucial
elements to staying ahead of competitors, especially
in the field of express carriers. With mobile
computing you can boost productivity, by knowing the
exact minute when trailers would arrive, the size
and type of their loads, and what resources you'd
need for tomorrow's shipments. Mobile computing
allows to track shipments from dock, to yard, to
truck. Dock workers don't lose track of freight
because they use HHCs, which show single and
multiple shipments at the same time. Supervisors
with HHCs have the information they need to find
equipment and determine shipment location and
status.
They save time by communicating to workers the job
assignment details anytime, anywhere, using HHCs.
HHCs are successfully used in tracking bags and
boxes that are individually bar coded. Pickups and
deliveries are traced by scanning each bag's bar
code. If needed, a receipt can be printed for both
driver and recipient.
Signatures and other pen- or touch-entered data are
efficiently captured and transmitted.
Data is sent to the host terminal as the truck is
being loaded instead of collecting and forwarding
documents when the trailer is closed and ready to
depart.
The bar code-based dockside eliminates keystroke
errors and the need to search for forwarding
documents.
Truck drivers' schedules and routes are
automatically loaded into HHCs, which can also
verify that the right goods are loaded on the right
truck.
Wireless networks transmit data between the
warehouse management system and workers equipped
with HHCs.
Trucks can also be equipped with GPS (geographical
positioning systems)+GSM/GPRS to achieve on-line
deliveries.

MANUFACTURING Mobile computing
is the solution for WIP tracking, batch control, lot
tracking, materials management, production
scheduling and other manufacturing activities.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems control
every corner of the manufacturing supply chain.
The latest data helps decision-makers react swiftly
when demand rises, put labour into action
efficiently, control costs, deliver the right goods
at the right time, and stay ahead of competition.
Mobile computing plays a major part in enterprise
resource planning implementations.
Data is captured right where the activity happens,
and is immediately linked to enterprise planning
suites. With real time data on inventory and manufacturing
processes, decisions are better supported.

SERVICES
A modern company
usually has a lot of data about customers through
customer relationship management (CRM), sales
forecasts and other back-office applications.
But utility meter readers,
repairmen, delivery personnel, inspectors, sales
agents and other field service workers often don't
have enough accurate information on the customers
they deal with every day.
By making information
available at the frontline, workers spend more time
solving problems, which increases operational
efficiency, profits, and customer satisfaction.
When fast in-field service is a must, our mobile
computers combined with vehicular GPS (geographical
positioning systems) and GSM/GPRS systems offer the
ultimate real-time field services.

HEALTH CARE Doctors and
nurses may use mobile computing to share vital
information on the patients. They can have real-time
access to clinical histories, treatments, lab
results, and update patient information right at
their home.
Using a mobile computer doctors can sign and send
medical orders on the spot. Pharmacy technicians can check data against the
patient's online medication profile, avoiding
mistakes.
Emergency
medical personnel can access important data about
patients just on an accident site, and they can
transmit it in real-time to the emergency room
staff. Mobile computers can also be used in hospital
inventory management, asset tracking and file
management.

|
GOVERNMENT Government
organizations use mobile computing in postal
services, law enforcement, debt collection, just to
name some of the application fields.
Light, compact, easy to use,
mobile computers with features such as bar code
reading, signature capture, credit card reading and
receipt printing help mail carriers be more
productive and efficient.
Tickets for parking can be
issued on the spot, and relevant data transmitted
the host computer.
Police officers on patrol can
use their mobile computer to collect and communicate
vital data from an accident site, a roadside vehicle
inspection, and the scene of a crime.
