This coin
acceptor is a high speed, multi-coin, field
programmable device.
It is designed to operate in any
coin-operated application, ranging from
Gaming through Vending, Amusement to
Carwash.
For "front-entry" applications, the
Microcoin QL can be provided with its own
mounting faceplate, offering a modern,
stylish appearance to your machine.
As an independent unit, the Microcoin QL can
be fitted into any top-entry application
with ease by virtue of its industry standard
size and mounting pin positions.

Maximum
fraud coin rejection
The Microcoin QL
validator has a patented discrimination
technology which allows it to accept up to
12 different coins or tokens at speeds up to
10 cps. The coins travel along a highly
engineered coin path which accepts or
rejects the coins at speed without
compromising the operation of the validator.
Special steps have been taken in the design
of the product to maximise coin acceptance
and minimise the effects of fraud.
Once a coin enters the validator, it always
remains in contact with a control surface
during its transition through the validator.
Unlike other products, this means that the
validator does not lose control of the coin
and cause possible poor discrimination or
coin jams. |

Gaming :
The world of Gaming requires special
detail to coin acceptance rates, fraud minimisation and
particularly security. To meet these exacting standards, the
Microcoin QL validator can be specifically configured as a
secure, high speed, multi-coin or single coin acceptor.
In this Gaming configuration, the Microcoin QL is plug
compatible with industry standard connectors and will
mechanically fit into any 17mm-32mm coin operation. Coupled
with the Microcoin QL is the Microcoin 2 way separator,
which provides a high speed, electronic diverter replacement
for existing mechanical, solenoid operated divert systems.
Coin Acceptance
The Gaming industry requires coins to be accepted at speeds
up to 10 coins per second. The Microcoin validator is rated
at these accept speeds even for multi-coin operation. Using
its "open gating" method of operation, coins can be accepted
at these high speeds and any frauds or invalid coins within
the coin stream are rejected without disrupting the valid
coin acceptance.
Fraud
Managing frauds is an on-going process and fraud
minimisation is achieved through our highly developed coin
discrimination technology. Should a fraud be detected, it
can be examined and a solution put in place extremely
quickly by virtue of the tools and facilities available at
the factory.
Security
The subject of security is of paramount importance. Not only
does the validator have to counter coin fraud, there must
also be protection against human fraud. That is, the ability
to cheat the validator through manipulation or by altering
its programmable features. The Microcoin validator has the
capacity for on-board programming and can be field
programmed using the Micromate hand-held programmer. Access
to these features, however, is completely disabled under the
Microcoin "security" option, with the exception of enabling
or disabling a coin. Security is activated for all Gaming
applications.
Amusements :
The coin operated amusement industry
broadly covers :
Video Games
Redemption
Pool Table
Pinball and many more....
All typically require multi-coin operation in either front
or top entry configurations. The Microcoin validator can be
set up to operate in any mode these markets require. The 10
way connector and mechanical design makes the Microcoin QL
validator industry compatible in both electrical
connectivity and mechanical fit.
Features which target this market are :
Price Accumulator
A strong Microcoin feature is the built-in price accumulator
or credit line. This allows multiple coins to be inserted
and whose values are added up within the validator. When a
pre-programmed value has been reached, a credit pulse is
issued on the credit line.
For example, 5 x 20p coins will generate 1 x £1 credit pulse
if the accumulator is set for £1.
Coin strimming prevention
This is where coins are attached to string or fishing line
and inserted into a validator. When a credit is registered,
the coin is pulled back in an attempt to get a "free game".
The Microcoin has a mechanical anti-strimming gate and an
electronic "yo-yo" alarm available in both top-entry and
front-entry formats.
Once a coin has passed the anti-strimming gate, it prevents
a coin from being drawn back through the validator. To
obtain a credit, the coin must have passed this gate, which
makes this type of fraud very difficult to achieve. Located
below the anti-strimming gate is a set of optics which track
the passage of the coin. If a coin is sensed to be moving in
the reverse direction, an electronic alarm is immediately
issued. Additionally, the front-entry model has a V-shaped
cutter, which will cut lines inserted into the faceplate.
Quick Learn on-board programming
The new Quick Learn on-board programming features allow you
to turn coins on or off and program up to 5 new
coins/tokens. These, combined with the visual diagnostics
make the Microcoin QL very appealing to operators.
Carwash :
The car wash industry is an extremely
rugged environment for coin validators to operate in.
Chemical aggravation, water egress, vandalism are all par
for the course in this challenging market. The Microcoin
validator has been operating in the carwash industry
throughout the world with huge success and the Microcoin QL
carries on the tradition of its predecessors for long term
reliability.
Typical applications are :
Wash Bays - Coin operated self-service carwash, which
requires customer to insert coins into control panel to
"buy" time. Customer can then use the facilities of the wash
bay to clean, rinse, wax the vehicle.
Autocashiers - Entry systems to automatic car-washes.
Customer drives up to the autocashier, inserts coins and/or
notes to purchase a wash. Typically there are up to 4
different wash cycles to choose from.
Vacuums - Coin-operated vacuum system located on the
car-wash site or at a petrol station to offer a car cleaning
service to the customer. Customer inserts coins to buy time
for the operation.
Fragrance Machines - Coin-operated machine which
offers various fragrances to spray into the vehicle.
Change Machines - Change machines offer on-site
facilities to change notes to coins for use at the wash
site. Coin validators are used to accept higher denomination
coins and to dispense correct change. For example, £2 coins
are accepted and 2 x £1 coins are dispensed.
Vending :
Vending applications are wide and varied and broadly
speaking, they cover the exchange of a good or service in
return for cash. Nowadays, cash can mean coins, notes or
debit cards. Typically, vending falls into two main
categories.
a. Change-giving
b. Non change-giving
Change-giving applications include drink and confectionery
dispensing, where coins are inserted and change is given.
Non change-giving applications include car park ticketing,
Internet kiosks, phone card dispensing, coffee vending,
laundrettes where coins are inserted but change is not
offered.
The Microcoin validator is designed to support non
change-giving applications. It can be set up in a
front-entry mode, where coins are inserted through a
Microcoin faceplate, or can be placed in any generic bracket
of the client's choice.
The validator's function is to signal to the host machine,
(a) which coins have been inserted and/or (b) the
accumulation of the coin values to a pre-programmed vend
amount. Microcoin can advise on coin handling and process
control solutions to customers who are designing non-change
giving applications from the ground up.
Typically the Microcoin validator will look after the
cash-handling aspect of the vending process including
external control inputs from the machine itself. It is
connected to a separate controller, which in turn, should
have control inputs and outputs to the machine, including :
Product available– checks that there is product available to
be dispensed
Product unavailable– vend selection is disallowed, money is
not debited
Product dispensed– checks that the vended item has actually
been dispensed
External credit input, i.e. Bank note reader– provides
additional credit input
Individual product selections
Money display– indicates money received |
